History
It was in the context of popular education for farmers that the Evangeline Region's first agricultural exhibition was born. The organization of such an event was seen as a good way to promote excellence in agriculture.The first agricultural exhibition was put on by a group of farmers from Urbainville in 1903. That year, it was held in the Urbainville schoolyard, but the following year, farmers from Egmont Bay were invited to participate and the event took place on the grounds of the Egmont Bay parish hall where it was held until 1938. The following year, farmers from the neighboring parish of Mont Carmel joined those of Egmont Bay. From then on, the event became known as the Egmont Bay and Mont Carmel Exhibition and, until 1948, exhibitors were restricted to residents from these two parishes. With the hard work of dedicated directors, land was then purchased in Abram-Village where the exhibition now stands. During the next few years, the agricultural exhibition expanded its territory and in 1970 it was opened up to the whole of Prince County. In 1971, the exhibition board decided to go ahead with the creation of an Acadian Festival so as to incorporate social and cultural activities during the event. These two organizations worked side by side until 1992 when it was decided to amalgamate the two into one association to be named "L'Exposition agricole et le Festival acadien de la région Évangéline" with the objective to promote, through its various activities, agriculture, crafts, and the Acadian culture in the Evangeline Region .
